What is this site all about?
I love what I do. I love designing things and I love leading a team that design things. I’m at my best when I am enthusing a team with my passion and inspiring them to do the best work possible. I also love sharing things I’ve learned, things I’ve thought about and interesting links I discover online (hence the semi-regular link round up).
This site is about that: me sharing and just talking about what I love.
Who are you?
A creative and commercial customer and user experience leader, with a proven record in driving business value through innovation, customer strategy and experience design. I use my passion, experience and vision to lead teams to deliver fantastic online experiences and drive real business success and growth.
So that’s the LinkedIn blurb! I’ve been designing digital experiences since 1999, as a profession, and earlier than that as an amateur!
I’m an Irishman living in the UK, justoutside London! I live with my beautiful wife and wonderful children, and divide my time between enjoying my family and loving my work in user and customer experience.
BlobFisk has been my nickname/handle/alias for a long time now, so generally where you see a user called BlobFisk it’s me!
What do you do?
I’m currently Head of Customer Experience at Tesco plc, leading a multi-disciplinary team (of research, user experience, service design, visual design and front-end development professionals) in the UK and India. My remit includes General Merchandise (Tesco Direct) and Clothing (F&F).
Previously I have held CX, UX & Design roles at TUI Travel plc, Virgin Media, Channel 4 Television, Tideway Systems (now part of BMC Software) and, in Ireland, DeCare Systems, 96FM and Premier Recruitment.
I studied in the National University of Ireland, Cork, and also served a term as a sabbatical officer on the Students’ Union.
