General Musings bankers, celtic tiger, funny, ireland, irish, video No Comments
This made me laugh out loud – especially the odd question and answer at the very end.
Please don’t watch this if you are offended by cursing or by people ranting against bankers!
Irishman rants about Irish bankers (YouTube)
It’s funny because it’s true.

General Musings advertising, misc No Comments
I was flying back to London from Cork Airport yesterday and I spotted this advert:
When I looked at it in more detail I noticed the text on the top right if the hoarding:
The original picture that I saw presented me with the (not very) tantalising picture of 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 3 rashers, 2 pieces of succulent black pudding, a tomato and a generous portion of baked beans. However, if that hasn’t got you sprinting to the Sports Bar (located at Gate 6) and you stop to read the “what you actually get” text, you realise that all you really get is:
Where’s my other sausage, my other 2 rashers, my other egg? Where’s the tomato, beans and black pudding? I’m sorry but a hash brown and some toast doesn’t make up for this!
This reminds me of a Judge Judy case about an eBay scammer that advertised some mobile phones for sale, sold them and sent the buyers pictures of the phones (trying to argue that the buyers got what they paid for):
I know that it’s caveat emptor, but both eBay scammer and breakfast at the Sports Bar in Cork Airport are taking this a bit far!

Channel 4, General Musings branding, Channel 4 No Comments
This picture (by tp1977) shows the new treatment of the Big 4, outside the Channel 4 building in London. The Big 4 is a large, steel 4 shape that Channel 4 invites artists to use.
The current Big 4 has been covered with umbrellas and I think it looks great! There has been a mixed reaction to it from the people I’ve spoken to it, but, again, I think it looks great!
It’s a work of art. It’s function is to promote Channel 4 and to promote the Channel 4 brand. It does these things in my opinion.
It is also meant to be a think that people stop and look at, a think that people stop and photograph, and a think that people talk about.
I believe it is doing all of these things. It is a perfect piece of branding, reflecting the Channel 4 mantra for experimenting and doing things first.
